DC Electronics have developed a complete range of standalone electric power-assisted steering systems (EPAS) for both competition and road use.

How it works

  • The EPAS system replaces the existing steering column.
  • An electric motor and torque sensor are fitted in-line with the steering column.
  • The torque sensor monitors the amount of force applied by the driver.
  • This signal is fed into the EPAS ECU where the motor delivers the appropriate amount of assistance to power the steering rack.

Professional Motorsport System

(Off Highway Use Only)

This system is designed for professional race teams. The teams have the ability to fine tune the 5 user accessible steering maps (via a rotary position switch) to ensure the best feel and compatibility with the chassis. CAN bus connectivity ensures that all operating parameters are available to be exported to the vehicles data logger. The system comprises of the following components:-

EPAS MIDI System

(Off Highway Use Only)

As an alternative to the motorsport system we also offer the EPAS Midi System comprising of the following components:-

  • EPAS01 – Motor/Gearbox
  • EPAS35 – EPAS Midi ECU
  • EPAS45 – EPAS Midi Wiring Harness

The main difference between the Midi and Ultra systems is the use of a cost effective folded metal enclosure with plastic interface connector. Due to the external heatsink no longer being present the Midi ECU will heat up faster than the Ultra unit so it is recommended only for vehicles where the steering loads are not anticipated to be high.

EPAS PRO RACE SYSTEM

(Off Highway Use Only)

The EPAS Pro Race steering system is designed to be an entry level electric power assisted steering system for competition/off highway use only.

The system comprises of the following components

  • EPAS100 Pro Race MGU
  • EPAS104 Pro Race ECU
  • EPAS106 Pro Race Wiring Harness

MODE OF OPERATION

The MGU is installed inline between the steering wheel and the steering rack. The internal torque sensor detects the amount of driver steering input and then engages the electric motor to assist.

The wiring harness comes complete with a 6 position rotary control (off and 5 levels of assistance) fixed by factory set maps.

EPAS PRO STREET SYSTEM

The DC Electronics EPAS Pro Street steering system is designed to bring electric power assisted steering to street cars without the need to change the steering rack or fit a hydraulic system. The system comes in two styles, both of which function in the same way but offer a choice of packaging options:

EPAS100 Pro MGU
Shortened motor/gearbox to go in line with the existing steering column.

EPAS102 Pro Column
Complete height adjustable steering column.

Both systems are made using re-manufactured parts and come with a 2-year warranty when used for highway operation.

MODE OF OPERATION

There are two options for controlling the EPAS motor:

Option 1
Manual control of steering assistance by potentiometer adjustment.

For this option you would add the following two items to your column or MGU:
EPAS108
Pro Street ECU
EPAS112
Pro Street Wiring Harness (Rotary)

Option 2
Manual control of steering assistance by potentiometer adjustment (as with Option 1) or a digital wheel speed input signal, which can be used to increase the level of assistance at parking speeds whilst firming up the steering at higher speed. A mode selection switch is provided with the harness to choose your preferred method of operation.

For this option you would add the following two items to your column or MGU:
